Is Cloud based video production the future of live streaming?
Interested in the future of live streaming? More and more we have seen industries move to the cloud… Will it happen for live streaming? First of all, EasyLive is not going to replace the need for Wirecast, vMix, OBS or xSplit. What it will do it add much needed redudancy and television style features for teams to collaborate and distribute live streams to multiple CDNs.
Cloud Based Video Production
Video Transcript
In this video I’m going to show you the very first cloud based video production system I’ve ever seen. All this and more coming up next.
So you actually just saw there one of the really cool things about Easy-Live is that all of your live streaming and video production happens in the cloud. So you can have multiple people from all around the world helping you interact.
iPhone, iPad and Computer Interfaces

Video Production in the cloud
I actually have here my phone setup, I have my iPad set up. I have my computer all set up and depending on where you are, what you want to do, you can have people from all around the world helping you in your live streaming. Now let’s just think about this for a second, it’s really going to close the gap between professional live streamers who don’t have all the tools that television studios do and really give us finally all of those tools and redundancy systems that you get with the real expensive million-dollar television studios.
Live Streaming vs Broadcast industry

Easy Live Cloud Based Video Streaming
So let’s take a look at this next slide I want to show you, so in this slide you are seeing the traditional television style broadcast system where they have a television truck, they have a huge television studio, there is 10 or 20 different people working on the broadcast and this is CBS, NBC and Fox and they broadcast out to the world, you rarely ever see a television broadcast having issue because they have multiple layers of redundancy, if something happens to one of their live video links coming from those satellite truck they switch to another system. They have a lot of layers of redundancy. In live streaming we set up all of our cameras and our microphones and we have an encoder whether it’s vMix or Wirecast or OBS but we don’t have the ability to take all of those camera’s, microphones and feeds and then have teams of people working on them, have a social media person adding the social media overlays, have a person who’s actually working on it remotely so this changes that link and allows us to kind of have multiple layers of redundancies. Let me show you this slide of what the redundancy will do here for you.
Redundancy for live streaming

Live Streaming Redundancy
This is kind of the ROI and then I’ll jump right into the demo I promise, so if you’re live streaming and you got a really important live stream, if anything happens to that live stream, if you lose power, if somehow your bandwidth has an issue or somebody trips and your laptop falls and your live stream dies then you’re going to lose most of your audience, so when you see that dip there with the tech issue number 1 that’s without easy-live without redundancy, without backup which we will show you in a moment. You basically will lose most of your audience, everyone is going to leave they are going to go on to the next thing but with easy-live you can have your main live production coming from Wire-cast or OBS or vMix or a tri-caster and then you can have a backup live stream coming from another computer or it could just be a play list of file, it could be a recording of the past 30 minutes of the video that actually was recorded and then you don’t lose your audience at all and look what would happen if there was a second tech issue, you’ll really be losing out and so the ROI is so much there. Let me give you a live demo here.

Live Streaming Interface in Web Browser
Cloud Based Streaming Options
We’re streaming right now and you go ahead and you create a stream and you select the type of stream it could be 720, it could be 1080 and they just make it really easy, do you want to do 60 frames or 30 frames a second? I’ve already got a 1080p 30frames/sec setup so I’ll go ahead and choose that, you can automatically log into additional streaming sites like YouTube, like Facebook, like twitch and daily motion and automatically have it republish, so this does all the re-streaming for you. You can have one single live stream going out to unlimited CDM’s so multiple different platform, you can have it all managed though in one place so you can give it a title, a name, a description, you can have all the tags managed right here in easy live, and then have everything else go out to the cloud for you. So it’s very easy and I want to show you a little demo here, so this is what it looks like and basically you’ve got your live feed there and if you click displays you’ve got what’s called a display manager and this is very basic kind of video production in the cloud so you can have a scoring system whether it’s for football or rugby or basketball or karate even and you can have logo’s and teams and you can actually manage all of the scoring right there in the cloud and I’ll kind of walk you through how all that work but you can also do simple overlays, and you can do video inserts and picture and picture with multiple streams, very basic stuff but it’s powerful especially for people who don’t want to have to deal with live streaming. The whole point of this is that we are making it super, super easy so on the left hand side what you’re seeing is kind of your preview and on the right hand side is your output and this are just some of the options of the overlays in video production options that we have, we can do direct integration with twitter and different social media applications, we can do lower thirds in messages, we can do direct Facebook live polling interactions as well so there I just added a quick little message and it actually has layering system so if you have multiple layers of videos files and maybe you have a background image, a green screen chroma-key potentially, different things you want to live stream to the cloud, we can have all of this inputs here in a layered system and then while you are working on it, it’s not live, and then you click that apply button there and that brings it live, so you can see there I have a scoreboard and now this part here, if we can pause this for a second, I just want to take a second to talk about this.
Live Streaming Workflow

DVR Events
This part here is the redundancy, so you can see this is kind of like your workflow setup, there is a lot of different reason why this is so nice so first of all you can see your input, so your input will be vMix or wirecast, OBS over tricaster, streaming to easy live but you see here we’ve got a secondary back-up input which we can select to be anything in a moment here I’ll select it to be a pre-recorded video or a commercial break, so if something happens to your stream, this is your redundancy setup, you can check your encoding, you can modify your info and at the end here you can see we’re streaming to YouTube but we can actually add additional broadcasts so it’s just a full overlay, go ahead and push play, we’ll keep watching here, just a full overlay of your complete workflow so I’m going to go ahead and add a video that I’ve already uploaded to this system and I’m going to set that to be my redundancy, so if something happens to my live stream, I’ve got my backup just like the big television production systems. So the other thing here is here is the media clip area, so I can upload media, I can upload videos, files, images, logo’s and have them ready for me when I want to switch to them. I can also do on the fly live DVR recording and the use case for this is really, really cool but before I get into that just really quickly, so it’s kind of like OBS, kind of like wire cast and vMix in the cloud where you’ve got your preview and your output and you’ve got multiple different thing you can do to add video production, integrate with social media and you can even add your website for example if you want to show website for a moment, instead of having to do that in your video production software, but the thing I wanted to get to is that there’s just so much going on here and it opens up so many possibilities for collaboration and one of the things I want to get to which is an amazing use case that.
Live Production in the Cloud

Social Integration
Philippe was actually on our show not long ago, we had him on the show maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago, we’re actually going to have him on this Friday as well because he just launched the new platform which has been getting a ton of attention in the media and we want to kind of talk to him because it’s kind of been lead out to you guys, someone on the show on Friday is actually going to win a free license, but one of the use cases I wanted to come back to before we end this video is I want to talk about the ability to create video clips and the DVR, the live DVR on your live stream you can create quick 30 second clips of a stream and let’s just take for example the presidential speech, so you’re live streaming the presidential speech, what is you want to take a quick 3 minute clip and give it to your social media person to post to YouTube immediately? What if you want to take a 30 second clip to share on twitter? You can do these things now in the cloud and you don’t have to be in the video production studio at that computer which is the limitation with wire-cast, vMix and OBS a lot of times. You might need 1 person focusing on twitter, one person focusing on YouTube clips, another person focusing on Facebook, even though the streams are going out, you still want those social media people to be able to download the clips of video, upload them the proper way and do it all as fast as possible in the world that we live in, so those are just some of the reasons why easy-live is a great new platform, allowing us to close the gap between live streaming and broadcast topic that we talk about all the time here on our YouTube channel don’t forget to like this video, subscribe if you want to learn more about this type of new upcoming technology and we’ll have easy-live on the show this Friday the CEO Philippe Lerrent so the information will be below in this video, thanks for watching and take care.
