Troubleshooting Newtek NDI & Upgrading your camera
This week in Back to Basics, we cover why users should consider upgrading their PTZOptics cameras to support the Newtek NDI. Show hosts, Paul Richards and Tess Protesto are joined with Zane Condren from NewTek. Zane was calling in from San Antonio, Texas using vMix call over an updated Google Chrome browser. Zane helps Paul & Tess answer live viewer questions about the NewTek which we will outline throughout this broadcast. One of the amazing points that Zane helps us understand about the NewTek NDI right away is the usability of a Gigabit Ethernet network for professional video production versus traditional SDI baseband routers.
Introduction to NewTek NDI

NewTek NDI Troubleshooting
Traditional cabling such as HD-SDI used for video and RS-232 Serial cabling used for PTZ camera controls will definitely be replaced with ethernet cables in many scenarios. In many circumstances, IP based video and camera controls, especially for PTZ cameras, is much more powerful and convenient for live streamers and broadcasters alike. Using IP based video (Professional Video over IP) allows cameras like the PTZOptics NDI upgraded models to be used with live streaming software such as Wirecast, vMix, Livestream Studio, NewTek Tricasters, VLC media player and Open Broadcaster Software. Using the NewTek NDI is becoming one of the most affordable and popular way to transmit video from a PTZOptics camera directly to computer-based video production software system but also hardware-based video production switchers.
